Property Description

Constructed in 1890, the 212 West Kinzie Building was 38 years young when steam shovels began excavating the foundation of the Merchandise Mart across the street in 1928. Today, the Kinzie Building offers 24,000 square feet of some of the most innovative loft style office space available in downtown Chicago.

The buildings premier location is two blocks north and three blocks east of where the Chicago River divides, immediately north of the Loop. Its loft-style design reveals the strength and warmth of the original beam wood structure.

The Kinzie Building comes complete with an outdoor courtyard. Rare in downtown Chicago, the courtyard features sculptures, flowing water and living green vegetation and provides a very pleasant setting for open-air meetings and client events. As green environments remain fairly sparse downtown, the courtyard adds an envious element to your work space.

Because of its 19th Century origins, the Kinzie Building carries memories of some creative and exciting times in Chicago, including the reversing of the Chicago River in 1900, World Series wins by the Cubs in 1907 and 1908, and the opening of Midway Airport in 1927, all before the ground breaking of the Merchandise Mart.
